Our inaugural Threshers Girls Club Teams will give a group of talented female box lacrosse players the opportunity to represent Hampton Roads at a regional tournament this winter! We want the most talented, positive-minded, high-character, and team-oriented players to represent the Threshers and most importantly players who want to PLAY BOX LIKE A GIRL!

Players invited and accepted to the team will enjoy additional club-only practices, off-field team sessions, and compete in the Philadelphia Indoor Lacrosse Championship (Hatfield, PA)! Threshers offers the most robust box lacrosse training schedule in the region to ensure driven athletes have ample training time to excel in box lacrosse techniques and strategy.

WHY BOX LACROSSE

Players and lacrosse organizations throughout the country – including top college programs – are embracing box lacrosse as the best off-season training for field players. Box lacrosse is played in a fast-paced environment with a 30-second shot clock, no restraining lines, and a smaller, enclosed field and smaller goals than field lacrosse. This creates an environment for far more touches and reps, quick decision-making, and creativity to accelerate player skill development. In this 5v5 (plus goalies) game, all players use a short stick and are placed in scenarios to enhance offensive skills and defense techniques – regardless of position – ensuring total player development.

Although there are plenty of similarities to the field lacrosse game, lacrosse players will enjoy the challenge of learning the nuances of the box game. Players will learn how to effectively use and defend the two-man game, set proper picks and roll, create opportunities off-ball and embrace contact. Are you ready to improve your stick skills, decision-making, become a two-way player and most importantly – HAVE FUN?!
